Most currency-exchange problems are easier to prevent before the transaction than to fix afterward. The useful approach is to verify four things separately: who you are dealing with, where the transaction will happen, what terms apply and what you actually receive.

1. Verify who operates the service
Check the published service name, legal-entity information and public contact details. A business-registration page can support identity, but it should not automatically be treated as proof of regulatory authorization for a specific financial activity.

2. Verify the current transaction location
A map pin, review profile or forwarded screenshot can help with navigation, but it may be old, copied or incomplete. Use current first-party counter information before carrying cash to a location.

3. Verify the transaction terms before handing over cash
- Which We Buy rate applies?
- Is the displayed rate current?
- Does any separate fee, commission or adjustment apply?
- Are your exact banknotes acceptable?
- What final VND amount should you receive?
- What identification or transaction information is required?

4. Verify the result before leaving
Count or verify the VND while you are still at the transaction point. Vietnamese Dong amounts contain many zeros, so organize the notes and compare the final amount with the transaction terms you accepted.

Before traveling with a larger amount
Call before carrying a large amount of cash across the island. Confirm the rate, approximate amount, banknote denominations and condition, preferred counter, timing and any required information. Published opening hours do not guarantee that every larger transaction can be completed immediately.

Protect cash and identity documents in transit
- Carry only the cash needed for the planned transaction.
- Avoid displaying a large stack of foreign banknotes in public.
- Keep a backup card or emergency cash separately.
- Know how many notes you are carrying and their denominations.
- Share identity documents only through the legitimate transaction process when required.
Be cautious with unsolicited offers
An unusually attractive headline rate is not enough information to establish a safe transaction. If you cannot verify the organization, location, terms and final amount, pause before handing over cash or personal information.
